Collection and analyse of HVAC system energy use in the EU Member States

This project aims to collect sub-hourly HVAC system energy use data from around 1600 HVAC systems in the EU Member States and analyse this information.

The overall objectives of iSERV

  • Is to provide some reward to HVAC system owners/operators and manufacturers for addressing the energy efficiency of these systems in their operation and design.
  • To establish that the continuous monitoring and benchmarking of HVAC processes will provide energy saving benefits equivalent to or better than those achievable by Physical Inspection alone
  • To produce benchmarks of energy consumption by HVAC systems against end use activities derived from measured data around Europe

To encourage the rapid adoption of more energy efficient HVAC systems through demonstrating their in-use benefits.

NEWS:

iSERV Project at REHVA Conference in Timisoara: iSERVcmb's coordinator, Ian Knight, gave a presentation of the iSERVcmb project at REHVA's Annual Conference, on the 19th April 2012. The presentation was titled “Energy use of existing air-conditioning systems" and was held at 11:00am in Hotel Timisoara.  The presentation was very well attended by the conference participants.

On the 20th April 2012, at 13.00 iSERVcmb a workshop was organized for the conference's participants. The concept of this workshop was to briefly introduce the work previously done, with focus on relevant tools and findings for the audience, as well as give a chance to the participants to ask questions and discuss about the applicability, ideas and concerns related to the project.  The session was very interactive.  Various clarifications were made on the project : monitoring can be recorded up to the component level, the age of building is taken into account, the floor area is define from the inside walls distance, there is standard and configurable reports and reports which automatically detect ECOs based on algorithm, etc.  A complete feedback of the workshop will follow.

Thank you to all who has contributed in the success of this workshop.
