AiCARR SEMINAR ON REFRIGATION

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN REFRIGERATION COMPRESSORS TECHNOLOGY AND THEIR IMPACT ON SYSTEMS' SEASONAL EFFICIENCY

    Vincenza, Italy
    6 February, 2015
In 2013, the production of refrigeration equipments for the European air conditioning market significantly dropped down and, beside this, the standard selling rate in the rest of the world marked a contraction. In this negative scenario, some bright spots came from variable cooling capacity machines and from heat pumps, thanks to an increasing attention on lowering the energy consumptions, especially in cold climate countries and in some regions traditionally not very sensitive to the energetic problem such as North America and Far East. The AICARR Technical Refrigeration Committee 2010 Seminar already debated the cooling capacity modulation issue, by analyzing the on market devices and systems and underlining the consequences of different design choices in the partial load operation field. Five years later, interesting developments have been made in compressor technology to improve energy efficiency in both the air conditioning field and the lower temperature evaporation one, for example cold climates heat pumps and some commercial refrigeration applications. The 2015
Seminar aims to provide an updated overview of the available products and of the new technologies, suggesting also new ideas for future developments. Furthermore it is going to provide a comprehensive overview on the approachable choices to increase the system reliability and to reduce the environmental impact.
