In most European countries the electricity consumption for air-conditioning is increasing dramatically and it is expected an increasing by a factor of 4 in 2020. Under these conditions the use of solar thermal energy for air-conditioning in buildings has a huge unexploited potential.

The objective of SOLAIR is to promote and to strengthen the use and market implementation of small and medium-sized solar air-conditioning (SAC) appliances. Focus is given to the residential and commercial sector, combining domestic hot water supply and space heating with air-conditioning.

The SOLAIR project was completed as foreseen by end of December 2009.

A lot of results have been obtained and they are now available on the project web site; the web site will stay open until the end of 2011 at least for visits and downloads. You are thus very welcome to go browse the site at will and to send comments if you so desire;

The SOLAIR project organized a seminar on Solar Air-conditioning during the EU Sustainable Energy Week 09: it was held on 10 February 2009 in Brussels.The detailed programme and more information was made available on the project web site and on the REHVA web site. The presentations are available on the project's web site.

This project is supported by the European Commission under IEE
