Register to the REHVA Supporters’ Seminar

The next REHVA Supporters’ seminar will be held on Tuesday 6 October from 13:30 to 18:00 at the Thon Bristol Stephanie Hotel, avenue Louise 93, 1000 Brussels.This year’s seminar will have two parts. In the first section, "EPBD: where are we now & what to improve with the review?" will be discussed. The second section "Energy efficient building systems – Ecodesign updates" will be presented. The seminar gives the participants the opportunity to meet high level EC speakers and discuss with experts about the development and implementation of EPBD standards. The abstracts of the August issue of the REHVA Journal (4/2015) are available online by clicking here.
The October issue (5/2015) will focus on Indoor Air Quality. The Editor-in-Chief of this issue is Jaap Hogeling (jh(at)rehva.eu).
The December issue of the REHVA Journal (6/2015) will focus on Energy Efficient Renovations. The guest editor of this issue is Stefano P. Corgnati (stefano.corgnati(at)polito.it).

EU Policy News

NEW REHVA website intranet section for EU policy tracking launched

REHVA is pleased to inform you about its new online service: “EU policy tracking” that was launched in September. Subscribed users can find latest updates as well as a short overview about EU energy related policy issues relevant for HVAC and building services professionals which are high on the agenda of the European Commission.

To gain access to this section a user name and a password will be required. REHVA asks you for a small financial contribution to be able to continue this extra service in the future: access to the restricted area is 30€ per year for REHVA Members and Supporters and 40€ per year for all others. REHVA comments on the evaluation of EPBD

REHVA is preparing comments on the evaluation of EPBD to be submitted by end of October online. The EPBD review will be the main topic of the panel discussion of the Supporters’ Seminar on 6 October and also discussed by TRC on the subsequent day. The public consultation launches the review of the EPBD, which is due by 1 January 2017 as required under Article 19 of the directive. It is open till 31 October 2015. EU Heating and cooling strategy – stakeholder consultation event, 9 September, Brussels

DG Energy organised a stakeholder consultation forum on 9 September 2015 to discuss the preparatory papers of the strategy to be adopted by end of 2015 as part of the Energy Union package. The strategy will inform and provide input to the review of the Energy Efficiency Directive, the Energy Performance of Building Directive and the Renewable Energy Directive, which are expected to take place in 2016. CEN-EPB standards - some update

The inquiry period of the standard EN16798-1 (Indoor environmental input parameters for design and assessment of energy performance of buildings addressing indoor air quality, thermal environment, lighting and acoustics) was closed on 28 September 2015. According to information from a few countries, the number of comments will be high. CEN/TC 156/WG19 will start to go through the comments in November 2015; two meetings of the Working Group have already been fixed. REHVA submitted comments to the draft standard. The submitted REHVA commenting form is available in the REHVA website restricted area on EPBD standard review.
Concerning the two other standards selected as pilots by REHVA, the post-enquiry work has is still going on in the relevant Working Groups. CEN/TC 156/WG23 is currently working on its proposal for the final draft ofprEN 16798-17.Concerning prEN 16798-3, the revision work is proceeding well but a few technical issues are still under discussion – however, a proposal for the final draft is foreseen in December 2015.
The work of CEN/ TC 371 for a new version of the overarching standard has proceeded well, as well as the work under CEN/TC 228, where the critical comments from the CEN enquiry have been resolved. The overarching standard will be discussed also at the coming REHVA Supporters Seminar on 6 October.
The post-enquiry work on different drafts has still revealed more items where consistency between individual standards has to be improved. The working groups are well aware of this issue, but in any case some time will still be needed before the whole package is finalised.

EU Project News

REHVA organised a workshop on “High energy performance hotels on track to nearly zero energy buildings” during CLIMAMED 2015 on 11 September in Juan- les-Pins chaired by REHVA President-elect Stefano P. Corgnati and project coordinator Theocharis Tsoutsos from the Technical University of Crete. Download the presentations.

It is a pleasure to invite you to participate in the 12th REHVA World Congress CLIMA 2016 – the leading international scientific congress in the field of Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) in Aalborg, Denmark in May 2016.
CLIMA 2016 is now open for the submission of abstracts. We invite all experts to present their work and exchange views and ideas. The congress topics are listed on the website. If you wish to present a paper, an abstract should be submitted electronically and should provide suitable information to allow the significance and quality of your work to be determined. Review criteria include originality, scientific/technical quality of the results, and relevance to the conference. The deadline for abstract submission is November 30, 2015. Please upload your abstract at the website, following the instructions given. Make sure to read the requirements for abstracts before submitting.
