EU Policy News

JRC advisory board meeting "High energy efficient buildings, indoor air quality and health", 15 December 2015, Brussels

The EU Joint Research Center (JRC) is working on a report analysing IAQ and health related aspects of the EPBD implementation across Europe. The report that shall be ready end of 2015 will also contain recommendations on the effective implementation of healthy and energy efficient buildings in the EU with regard to the 2nd review of the EPBD.  Several REHVA experts contributed to the report and also the outcomes of the HealthVent project were taken into account. JRC and DG ENER will organise an expert meeting on 15 December in Brussels, to discuss the final draft of the report.
You can find more information about the report in the EU Policy Tracking section of the REHVA website. This is in the restricted area of the REHVA website. Please see below how to register.

REHVA submission to the Public Consultation on EPBD

REHVA prepared its answers to the EPBD public consultation. The draft comments were initiated by and discussed by the TRC. Ecodesign Work Programme 2016-2017 - Consultation forum on 28 October 2015

DG ENER identified 16 potential products for the 2015-2017 Work Plan. Two of them are relevant for HVAC-R industry: building automated control systems for non-residential buildings and refrigerated containers. DG Energy organised a consultation forum about the proposed new product groups including Building Automated Control Systems. At the consultation forum Member States and invited stakeholder were asked about their opinion which products shall be included in the next Work Plan, and a specific question on BAC systems where the Commission wanted to explore whether Ecodesign is the appropriate instrument to achieve the energy savings showed by the preparatory study. The present industry representatives strongly advocated for the inclusion of BAC systems in the next Work Plan. ORGALIME and REHVA represented the opinion that Ecodesign may reach its limits here, as the energy savings in buildings can be only achieved by proper installation and operation of the technical systems, which require a system level approach. These issues can be tackled rather by EPBD and not by Ecodesign requirements on BAC systems.
