DG Energy organised a high level stakeholder event on the Reviews of Directive 2012/27/EU on energy efficiency (EED) and of Directive 2010/31/EU on energy performance on buildings (EPBD). REHVA was represented by a delegation of Jarek Kurnitski, Vice-president, Anita Derjanecz, Policy and Project Officer and Sara Kassam, CIBSE. DG ENER meeting - Action 5 “New materials and technologies for energy efficiency solutions for buildings, 14 February 2016, Brussels.

The new SET Plan proposes 10 actions that contribute to achieve the R&I objectives of the Energy Union. In order to translate these actions into concrete work the European Commission organised a stakeholder meeting to discuss the proposed strategic objectives followed by the development of implementation plans. The result of the consultation process will be agreements with stakeholders on strategic targets/priorities in each of the action areas, as well as on implementation plans that will aim to deliver the agreed targets/priorities. Implementation plans will contain recommendations for R&I activities at European, national and regional levels; concrete and refocused commitments of private sector stakeholders and research organisations, as well as joint work between all stakeholders. REHVA submitted an input paper on the working document.

Find out more about the neZEH project outcomes here.

QUANTUM – the new REHVA EU project

REHVA started in January 2016 a new EU project on “Quality management for building performance - improving energy performance by life cycle quality management”. The goal of this project is to develop and demonstrate pragmatic services and appropriate tools with high replication potential supporting quality management (QM) for building performance in the design, construction, commissioning and operation phase as a means to close the gap between predicted and actual energy performance in European buildings. The gap in building performance is not caused by a lack of technology or conceptual intelligence but by a lack of quality. QUANTUM project will apply three innovative ICT-driven tools to enable effective quality management in all relevant services within the building life cycle. The core mechanism is to “design for testability” by specifying transparent performance targets with cost effective testing methodologies. REHVA will set up a Task Force linked to the project and develop a Guidebook based on the outcomes.
