REHVA Annual Meeting 2017

The 2017 REHVA Annual Meeting will be hosted by CIBSE in London, United Kingdom and will be held on Sunday April 2nd to Tuesday April 4th, 2017 with some major changes in the agenda compared to previous years. The REHVA Board would like to present and discuss a new strategy of cooperation with Member and Supporters, so the schedule of this year’s Annual Meeting was planned to provide for more interactive discussions.

FINVAC - EU Seminar

On 25 January 2017, the Finnish member association FINVAC arranged in Helsinki the second half-day seminar on the impact of CE marking and EU regulation on HVAC industry and profession. The seminar, like the first one held in January 2016, was well-attended, again by nearly 100 participants. The topics presented by the speakers included an updated introduction to the national implementation process of relevant EU regulations including expectations on the next EPBD, overview on EPB standards, news about Ecodesign and Construction Products Regulations, and points of view of national legislators, market surveillance, test house and product/system suppliers. REHVA created the REHVA Institutional Supporters

REHVA Institutional Supporters are reputable Universities, research centres and institutional bodies that pursue the same objective as REHVA. ASHRAE recognized Zoltan Magyar for outstanding industry and society achievements

Zoltan Magyar, Ph.D., head of the Department of Building Energetics and Building Service Engineering, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, former REHVA Vice President and Treasurer was elevated to the grade of ASHRAE Fellow.On January 28th, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada, ASHRAE recognized fifty-five people for outstanding industry and society achievements, for their contributions to ASHRAE and the industry at the Society’s 2017 Winter Conference.

EU Policy News

Commission wants to open up engineering professions across the EU

The European Commission (EC) proposed on 10 January a fine-tuning of the Services Directive (Directive 2006/123/EC) to address the over-protection of certain professions in the member states, including engineering and architecture. While goods move freely across EU borders, the Commission has pointed out that more than 5000 regulated professions across Europe represent an obstacle to the freedom of movement of professional workers in the Union. At this stage EC will provide guidance to member states on open up various sectors, keeping the balance between increasing competition and the job protections to guarantee the quality of services.


Ecodesign - Lot 21 published as Commission Regulation 2016/2281 

The Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/2281, implementing the Directive 2009/125/ on setting ecodesign requirements for energy-related products, including air heating products, cooling products, high temperature process chillers and fan coil units has been published on 20 December 2016 in the Official Journal.

January 2017 - QUANTUM project presented at BAU 2017

QUANTUM consortium has already presented the project at various international conferences. Last but not least BAU 2017 (the leading trade fair for architecture, materials and system) where the partners were invited as lecturers to the workshop "From research to market – innovative technologies and ICT solutions for energy efficiency". 25-26 January 2017, Valencia, Spain - PROF / TRAC Train-to-Trainers course in Valencia: the successful interdisciplinary cooperation continues


PROF/TRAC organised the third Train-to-Trainer (TtT) course in Valencia on the 25th and 26th of January 2017. Eight REHVA members from ATIC (Belgium) and SSTP (Slovakia) joined the scheme along REHVA members from AiCARR (Italy), AIIR (Romania), ETE (Hungary) and FINVAC (Finland) who greatly contributed to the second TtT in Zagreb.
The workshop put together different building professionals (e.g. engineers and architects) from REHVA, ACE and Housing Europe into teams to develop the structure of training course tailored to specific needs of their country.
The participants who attended the previous courses are already acting as front-runners and ambassadors, initiating and organising the national training programmes for NZEB trainers who are able to create a “snowball effect”. More information

China & CIHE is the largest fair for the HVAC and plumbing industries in Asia. The fair falls under the ISH brand of shows. The 2017 edition will be held from 18 till 20 May 2017 at the New China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, China. The 21th edition will cover 97 000 sqm of exhibition space across eight halls, expects to welcome 1300 exhibitors and 55 000 professional visitors.
The fair will showcase a comprehensive collection of energy-saving heating, new energy heating, district energy, intelligent control, building water supply and drainage, and home comfort products and technologies. About 70 sessions of concurrent events – including the renowned China International HVAC Congress (iHVAC), seminars, product showcases and networking events – will be held for exhibitors and visitors.
