The European Commission has opened the public consultation round for the Energy Efficiency (EED) and Renewable Energy (RES) Directives. The consultation period for both Directives runs from 17 November 2020 until 09 February 2021.

The EED consultation aims to assess the existing framework of the Directive since its entry into force in 2012 and what can be done to stream and strengthen the Directive with the 2030 energy efficiency targets in mind.

Similarly, the Commission is aiming to revise the RES Directive with the 2030 targets in mind. Among others, measures to implement the Renovation Wave initiative within this Directive are being examined.
