SCANVAC (the Scandinavian Federation of Heating, Ventilation and Sanitary Engineering Associations in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) announces that Professor Olli Seppänen has been awarded the distinguished title Honorary Member of SCANVAC. Professor Seppänen was President of REHVA from 2005 to 2008 and Secretary General from 2008 to 2012.
The diploma states:
“Olli Seppänen has been awarded the status Honorary Member of SCANVAC in recognition of his long‑term work for enhancing the cooperation between Nordic and Baltic countries and the promotion of SCANVAC worldwide.”
The award was formally presented on 26 June 2026, marking Seppänen as only the third individual ever to receive this honor. The two previous recipients are Halvor Røstad (Norway) and Per Rasmussen (Denmark), both recognized for their significant contributions to Nordic HVAC cooperation.
The honorary title was handed over by SCANVAC President, Professor Risto Kosonen, who highlighted Seppänen’s long-standing leadership and his substantial impact on strengthening collaboration across the Nordic and Baltic regions. Seppänen previously served as President of SCANVAC, he played also a central role in revitalizing the Nordic Ventilation Group and expanding SCANVAC’s international visibility.
Professor Seppänen’s contributions to indoor air quality and ventilation research have been widely acknowledged across the global HVAC community. His work has significantly advanced SCANVAC’s mission to promote healthy, energy‑efficient indoor environments.
