Every three years, during the CLIMA World Congress, REHVA becomes the organizer of the HVAC World competition, featuring one candidate from each partner continent or region. The selection of candidates is undertaken by the respective MoU partner associations. Additionaly, the winner of the REHVA Student Competition, the year of CLIMA, becomes the European representative in the HVAC World Student Competition.
This year, the HVAC World Competition took place in Milan, Italy, on June 6 th , 2025.
5 teams competed in the Competition, and each produced a paper they had to present in front of conspicuous jury members: Livio Mazzarella (REHVA - Europe), Vikrant Aute (ASHRAE - USA), Junta Nakano (SHASE - Japan), Jin Kyun Cho (SAREK - Korea), Junjie Liu (CAHVAC - China).
The first prize was awarded to Beniamino Fambri (Italy), representing REHVA, with his work on the topic "Detection and diagnosis of operating faults of a water-to-water heat pump using artificial neural networks“. Hidetoshi Maruyama – SHASE/Japan, arrived second. Dongjia Han – CAHVAC/China secured the third place, and Mokshika Arora – ASHRAE/USA won the prize for best poster.
The HVAC World Student Competition 2025 was the 6 th time that REHVA’s representative won the 1st prize.
