Scorpio Room at the Congress Centre “Stella Polare”
This focused session will explore optimizing air filtration strategies for HVAC systems, highlighting key updates from the revised REHVA Guidebook 11 and their impact on indoor air quality and system performance.
Abstract:
How do we adapt HVAC filtration strategies to meet the post-pandemic reality? Driven by the 2021 WHO Air Quality Guidelines and the control of infectious aerosols, the regulatory landscape for air filtration has evolved rapidly.
This workshop launches the highly anticipated revision of REHVA Guidebook 11: Air Filtration in HVAC Systems. We will explore how to apply the latest standards — such as EN 16798-3:2025, EN ISO 10121-3, and ASHRAE 241 — to real-world scenarios.
A key focus of this session is distinguishing proven solutions from emerging risks. Air filtration in HVAC systems is important for the reduction of air pollutants from outdoors to indoors. While traditional filtration is well-established, some heavily promoted air-cleaning methods lack standardized performance assessment and may emit unwanted byproducts. This workshop will guide attendees through the new REHVA Guidebook, offering a clear, evidence-based roadmap for selecting filtration and disinfection solutions that prioritize human health, safety, and energy performance.
