REHVA was pleased to participate in the Light + Building 2026, where it hosted a seminar on “Ventilation in Hospitals: Human-Centric Challenges in Sustainable Healthcare Buildings.” The session took place on March 12 and brought together experts and professionals to discuss one of the most critical aspects of healthcare building design.
The seminar was very well received and sparked an engaging and insightful discussion among attendees. The presentations explored how hospital ventilation systems must balance patient safety, indoor air quality, human behaviour, and energy efficiency, particularly in sensitive areas such as operating rooms. Speakers also highlighted the role of adaptive and demand-controlled ventilation strategies, as well as the opportunities and challenges related to smarter system control and integration in modern healthcare facilities.
Through keynote insights, technical presentations, and an expert panel discussion, the session provided valuable perspectives on how to move toward safe, resilient, and sustainable hospital HVAC systems across Europe.
REHVA was delighted to welcome Anna Bogdan, Marcin Michalski, Muhammad Tayyab Waheed, and Neto de Vasconcelos Vasco as speakers. Their expertise and contributions made the seminar both informative and inspiring for the audience.
REHVA would like to thank all participants who joined the session and contributed to the lively exchange of ideas. Events such as Light + Building 2026 provide an excellent platform to share knowledge and strengthen collaboration toward healthier and more sustainable built environments.
