On 11 October, prominent industry associations gathered at The Hotel in Brussels for the IEQ President's Lunch, a high-level closed-door event focused on Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) within the EU’s decarbonization goals and the recent revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).

Besides, REHVA, key associations promoting included eu.bac(European building automation controls association) EPB Center (Consultancy and Services on the Energy Performance of Buildings), EPEE (European Partnership for Energy and the Environment), Eurovent (European Industry Association for Indoor Climate, Process Cooling, and Food Cold Chain Technologies), EVIA (European Ventilation Industry Association), GCP Europe (Efficient Building Engineering Services), IFMA EMEA (International Facility Management Association), LightingEurope (Lighting Industry),

REHVA was represented by Catalin Lungu, President, and Francesco Robimarga, Policy and Advocacy Officer. Andrei Vladimir Litiu from the EPB Center and Jaap Hogeling representing IEQ-GA also took part in the discussions.

After introductory remarks from REHVA and eu.bac, the discussion covered several key topics:

  • Implementation of IEQ Measures at Member State Level: Identifying strategies for Member States to align IEQ policies with EU-level decarbonization and health goals.
  • Standard Harmonisation Across the EU: Addressing the need for consistent IEQ standards across diverse regulatory frameworks.
  • Leveraging the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI): Exploring how SRI can enhance IEQ within EU buildings.

Launch of Key IEQ Publications

In support of this collective mission, the associations jointly introduced two IEQ-focused publications:

These publications, aimed at fostering EU-wide advancements in IEQ standards, advocate for coordinated actions among stakeholders

The IEQ President's Lunch underscored the collective commitment to healthier and more sustainable indoor environments, fully aligning with REHVA’s mission and vision.
