In parallel to the ISH, world’s leading HVAC trade fair HVAC, the German association Fachverband Gebäude-Klima (FGK) organized a conference dedicated to the transposition of EPBD 4.

Johann Zirngibl, REHVA vice president presented the “challenges for the transposition of EPBD 4” with a focus on Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ). EPBD 4 underlines the importance of the IEQ as part of the performance of a building. Member States should define minimum requirements.

Johann Zirngibl pointed out the need for a coordinated transposition, based on the same definitions, common indicators and methods, but where the Member States have flexibility to set the ambition level of the requirements. Without such a coordinated transposition, barriers for the free circulation of services would be created, costs and administrative burden would increase for HVAC professionals.

In the following panel discussion, Johann Zirngibl underlined that REHVA advocates for a technology neutral approach in the transposition, allowing HVAC experts optimizing the buildings. There is no “one fits all” solution.
