Prague, Czech Republic, 23 September 2026 — The 18th edition of the international RoomVent conference has successfully concluded in Prague, bringing together researchers, engineers, designers, industry professionals and other experts from around the world to discuss the latest developments in ventilation, indoor air quality and the built environment. Held from 15 to 18 September 2026 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, RoomVent 2026 attracted 361 participants from 44 countries across five continents.

The conference programme reflected the broad scope and international character of the event. Over four days, participants attended 220 oral presentations, 33 poster presentations, four keynote lectures and 10 workshops, providing opportunities to present the latest research findings, exchange practical experience and discuss future directions for the HVAC and indoor environmental quality sectors. The programme covered a wide range of topics related to the indoor environment and building services, including ventilation, indoor air quality, thermal comfort, energy efficiency, modelling and simulation, and emerging technologies. The conference brought together perspectives from both academic research and professional practice, creating opportunities for international cooperation and knowledge exchange.

“RoomVent 2026 has demonstrated the importance of international cooperation in addressing the challenges facing the indoor environment and building sector,” said Prof. Karel Kabele, President of RoomVent 2026. “Bringing experts from 44 countries together in Prague created a valuable platform for sharing research, experience and ideas for the future.”

RoomVent in Prague for the First Time

The Prague edition marked the first time that RoomVent has been held in the Czech Republic. Since its establishment in Stockholm in 1987, the conference series has travelled to cities including Oslo, Copenhagen, Yokohama, Helsinki, Busan, São Paulo, Turin, Xi’an and Stockholm. The conference has established itself as an international platform for the exchange of technical knowledge and new ideas in HVAC, ventilation and the indoor environment. RoomVent 2026 continued this tradition while providing a meeting point for the research community, industry and building professionals. In addition to the scientific programme, participants had the opportunity to experience Prague through a gala dinner and technical tours showcasing selected buildings and building-services installations.

International Scientific and Professional Exchange

The scientific programme featured four keynote speakers: Prof. Francis Allard, Prof. Philomena M. Bluyssen, Prof. Risto Kosonen and Prof. Tham Kwok Wai. The event was supported by an international scientific and organizing committee, with Prof. Karel Kabele serving as President of RoomVent 2026. The organizing committee included representatives from the Czech Technical University in Prague, the Society of Environmental Engineering and the international HVAC community. The conference was organized by the Society of Environmental Engineering (Společnost pro techniku prostředí) in cooperation with its international partners and supporting organizations.

With 361 participants, contributions from 44 countries and a programme combining scientific presentations, keynote lectures, posters and workshops, RoomVent 2026 provided a broad international forum for discussion of the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of indoor environments and building services.

The next edition of RoomVent will continue the conference's international journey in Osaka, Japan, in 2028.
