SIMIACCI Project Officially Launched!
The SIMIACCI project (Sustainable Intelligent Management of Indoor Air Quality for the Culture and Creative Industries) has officially started, marking an exciting step forward in revolutionizing Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) management for cultural heritage preservation.
As Europe advances toward a climate-neutral future, Culture and Creative Industries (CCIs) face growing challenges in adopting sustainable practices. Among these, Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums (GLAMs) are particularly impacted by the high energy demands required to preserve cultural heritage (CH) artifacts. From managing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) to controlling humidity, current solutions often fall short of achieving both sustainability and efficiency.
This is where SIMIACCI steps in. The project aims to:
- Reduce energy demand for IAQ management by 30-50%
- Extend the conservation time of cultural heritage artifacts through innovative preservation techniques
- Enhance existing technologies, including CH storage, showcases, and HVAC systems
The SIMIACCI consortium brings together a diverse group of partners committed to innovation and sustainability:
- Euroquality - Tinexta Group
- CNRS
- DTU - Technical University of Denmark
- Université de Caen Normandie
- Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart
