Crash course into NZEB Design Strategies for Residential Buildings in Mediterranean Regions

  • When: 18 May 2021
  • Where: Webex

Climate is the main factor affecting a building and its HVAC system design.

Therefore, considering both temperature and humidity, specific solutions are required to increase building energy efficiency in the Mediterranean region.

On May 18th at 11.00, Murat Çakan, professor at the Istanbul Technical University (Turkey) and co-author of the REHVA Guidebooks 28 and 31 “NZEB Design Strategies for Residential Buildings in Mediterranean Regions”, will hold a crash course on the design process that leads to the realization of a Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) in Mediterranean regions.

Focusing on residential buildings, the keynote lecture will concern the design of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, energy recovery and free cooling aspects, renewable energy adaptation and innovative system design approaches.

The main objectives are to present and promote the use of appropriate equipment, technology and systems responding specific requirements of cooling-demand-dominated Mediterranean climate.
