Webinar “The decarbonisation of buildings: Turning ambition into action”

The 20th of march EPEE organised a web meeting titled “The decarbonisation of buildings: Turning ambition into action”. After the positive vote of the EU parliament on the EPBD recast the 12th of March, the aim of the Webinar was to provide wide-ranging views on setting the framework for implementing  the EPBD. 

After the introduction speech of Stephan Moser, head of the unit dealing with EPBD in DG ENER, REHVA vice president and EPB Center Board Director  Johann Zirngibl presented how an HVAC designer could look on the EPBD recast - see the presentation below. The objectives of the EPBD are clear and go in the right direction. However the means, how to reach these objectives (use of renewables, carbon neutrality, healthy buildings and affordable buildings) should be worked out and optimised by HVAC designers. There is no « one fits all solution ».

Johann Zirngibl underlined that REHVA and EPB Center stands for technology neutral solutions, the multiplicity of solutions, because there are different means to reach the EU targets.

Stephan Moser in his introduction speech mentioned that the cooperation with stakeholders is key to implement to EPBD recast. REHVA and EPB Center proposed their technical experience and know how for drafting the technical documents needed for an efficient and harmonised implementation.
