The Commission announced the first official declaration of Circular Plastic Alliance which will be presented at the high-level event on 20 September 2019. At the same time, interested stakeholders are invited to support and sign this declaration.

This Alliance was first launched by the Commission on 11 December 2018 and aims to boost plastics recycling in the EU and help to accelerate Europe's transition towards a circular economy. Particularly, the Alliance will contribute to stronger cooperation between supply and demand for recycled plastics, which is identified as the main obstacle to a well-maintained EU market of recycled plastics. Therefore, it is planned to reached the objective of achieving at least 10 million tons of recycled plastics into new products on the EU market by 2025 as a set in the European Strategy for Plastics.
