On 22 May, the Council of the EU formally adopted four new pieces of EU legislation that redesigned the EU electricity market. This was one of the last parts of the Clean energy for all Europeans package and represents major step towards completing the Energy Union.
The package addresses all 5 dimensions of the Energy Union such as energy security, the internal energy market, energy efficiency, decarbonisation of the economy and research, innovation and competitiveness. Thus, it corresponds to the 5 important policy fields following the energy performance in buildings, renewable energy, energy efficiency, governance regulation and electricity market design.
