Following its early March communication, the European Commission presented on 18 May its REPowerEU Plan to act on the urgent need to transform Europe's energy system ending the EU's dependence on Russian fossil fuels. The measures in the REPowerEU Plan aim to respond to this ambition through energy savings, diversification of energy supplies, and accelerated roll-out of renewable energy to replace fossil fuels in homes, industry, and power generation. The Plan has implication on the ongoing review of  EPBD, EED and REDII directives.
