The European Parliament has approved, with a large majority, the implementation report on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) in the plenary session on 15 December 2021. The implementation report was an own initiative from the Parliament through the Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) Committee under rapporteur Seán Kelly (EPP - Ireland) to provide feedback on what can be improved in the currrent EPBD to reach the Renovation Wave ambitions. 

The approval of the implementation happened on the same day as the release of the new proposal for a revision of the EPBD by the Commission. With this report the Parliament already gives a preliminary position before the start of the inter-insitutional dialogue with the Member States on the new EPBD revision that will start in Q2 2022.
