TRI-HP project ended in February 2023. The project aims to develop systems based on electrically-driven natural refrigerant heat pumps coupled with photovoltaic to provide heating, cooling and electricity to multi-family buildings with an on-site renewable share of 80% reducing the installation cost by 10-15%
The heat pumps developed in TRI-HP are based on natural refrigerants with very low Global Warming Potential (GWP) and zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP), namley CO2 and propane. These natural refrigerants are necessary to cover efficiently the different types of space heating and domestic hot water demands in Europe, thereby making the phase-out of the Hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) refrigerants possible.
TRI-HP has developed three factsheets that aim to provide an overview of the innovative aspects of the technology-specific components developed within the project.
TRI-HP factsheets have been created to inform about the tested systems :
- Dual source/sink heat pump system
- Solar-ice system
- The Advance Energy Management System
