On Wednesday, 27th November 2019, the European Parliament approved the new College of Commissioners with 461 votes in favour, 157 against and 89 abstentions. The new Commission will take the office starting on 1 December 2019.
During the opening speech the European Commission’s new President, Ursula von der Leyen addressed that investments and regulatory framework will be provided for Europe to tackle and lead the range of critical issues such as environmental protection and climate change, energy transition, growth, inclusion, innovation, digitalisation and many others.

Following the new Commission which finally needs to be formally appointed by the Council, its five-year term is expected to start on 1 December.
