The European Commission President to be, Ursula Von der Leyen, is currently deciding on a “Green Deal for Europe” team, which will most probably be implemented under the lead of a Vice President Frans Timmermans.

At the same time, it is not yet clear whether the President Elect Ursula Von der Leyen will keep Junker's combination of climate and energy as one common portfolio or will separate them once again as it was the case during the Barrosso's Commission mandate until 2014.

The idea of separating again the climate and energy does not have much support among current EU officials and energy and climate lobbyists from NGO and business community. Read more on different views in the news here.

However, the final announcement on portfolio assignments is foreseen in the first week of September.
