Last June, BIM-SPEED project launched the EU BIM for Building Renovation Competition for construction professionals and students. For both categories, the registration process will be open until 21 October 2021, via BIM-SPEED website.
Multi-disciplinary teams of professionals and students, active in the BIM design are invited to participate in the competition. The competition is open for participants from all over the world – not limited within EU, promoting diversity and welcoming innovative ideas to provide ground-breaking perspectives.
The contestants will collaborate in the BIM-SPEED platform, having access to more than 14 BIM tools and their respective training material on how to use them. As HVAC engineers, our top picks are:
- CYPERTHERM EPLUS tool that provides thermal simulations and analysis using a BIM model and genrates detailed reports on building’s energy performance.
- Method for surveying and diagnostic of HVAC systems in existing buildings, with an image recognition algorithm to show the suitability of different tecnologies for data collection.
As far as the awards of the competition for the winning teams, it will be an excellent opportunity for students to kick-start their career and receive an EU wide exposure to BIM expert companies and designers. For companies and teams of professionals it will be an opportunity to boost their image and recognition at EU level. Moreover, the winning team of professionals will have the chance to become a member of REHVA’s BIM task force of the Technology and Research Committee.
