In response to the recast Energy Efficiency Directive, the EU is pursuing a twofold strategy. Firstly, it aims to evaluate the adequacy of both EU and national funding for energy efficiency. Simultaneously, by December 31, 2024, the European Commission will provide guidance to Member States and market actors on unlocking private investment. This guidance focuses on innovative financing tools, scaling up financial instruments, and optimizing public budget support. Together, these initiatives aim to propel the EU towards its energy efficiency goals through a balanced blend of public and private funding.

The feedback period for both is open until February 26th.
